Meet the owner
Owner, RestorEcology LLC
Daniel Ramsay, owner of RestorEcology LLC, has 19 years of experience in the environmental restoration industry in the Southeast. He built his technical background as a consulting scientist and moved into project and operations management over time. For several years he oversaw more than 100 design and construction staff as regional manager for one of the largest restoration-focused companies in the United States.
With both the scientific and the management side of the business in hand, he started RestorEcology to partner more closely with North Carolina’s landowners. RestorEcology now has eight active mitigation projects, four of which have been approved and constructed.
Daniel’s experience in wetland and stream assessment, mitigation plan development and real estate acquisition lets him respect the integrity of a property and its management needs while identifying where natural habitats can be restored and protected. He lives in Cary, North Carolina, with his wife and five kids, and gets outside whenever he can.
Our approach
RestorEcology takes a unique approach to natural habitat restoration. Landowners bring the most critical element of any project, the land itself. We bring everything else.
Drawing on experience with more than thirty landowners on previous mitigation projects, we work with families directly and structure compensation the way that suits them: revenue share, lump sum, installments or purchase.
We permit, plant, monitor, maintain and steward each project at our expense, and we use financial and market analysis to pick projects with a clear path to strong returns for the landowner and for us.
Every site is protected by a recorded conservation easement and an endowed long-term steward, so the water-quality benefit behind each credit we sell is permanent.
