Edwards Branch Mitigation Site

Part of the Neuse River Basin

Mitigation Site

Edwards Branch

RestorEcology has contracted with the NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Division of Mitigation Services (DMS) to deliver a 35.4-acre natural habitat restoration project on Edwards Branch and two of its tributary streams near Grantham, NC in Wayne County. Existing hardwood swamp along Edwards Branch will be preserved, and ~15,000 native hardwood trees will be planted in cutover timber areas to restore a forested buffer.

The Site will generate riparian buffer credits for DMS in the Neuse River Basin HUC# 03020201, excluding the Falls Lake Watershed. Planting is targeted for the 2026-27 dormant season.

RestorEcology has assembled an experienced team for delivery of the Site, including Axiom Environmental, Bruton Natural Systems, Matrix East, and Arrowhead Law.
