A 35.4-acre riparian buffer restoration on Edwards Branch and two tributaries that RestorEcology is delivering under contract to the NC Division of Mitigation Services.
RestorEcology has contracted with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Mitigation Services (DMS) to deliver a 35.4-acre natural habitat restoration project on Edwards Branch and two of its tributary streams near Grantham, North Carolina, in Wayne County.
The existing hardwood swamp along Edwards Branch will be preserved, and roughly 15,000 native hardwood trees will be planted across cutover timber areas to restore a forested buffer. Planting is targeted for the 2026–27 dormant season.
This is a full-delivery project: RestorEcology designs, permits, plants, monitors and protects the site, and the resulting riparian buffer credits go to DMS for its in-lieu fee program in the Neuse River Basin (HUC 03020201, excluding the Falls Lake watershed). RestorEcology does not sell credits from Edwards Branch directly.
